A direct line from Tranylvanian Prince Luc d'Anjou who settled in France in 1321 and a bâtard of Francesco Maria II della Rovere, Duke of Urbino, the title Prince was authorised in France by arrêt sur requête du Conseil d'Etat in the year of our Lord 1605. Seated the Imperial Diet from 1504, elevated to Imperial Prince in 1599, appointed Ducs de Dampierre in 1770.
